Design Spotlight: Nursery Inspiration

Hey Gals!

By no means do we want TSN to be a baby blog, but I thought it would be fun to do a design spotlight on the nursery d├ęcor I’m planning for Baby M (aka, Little Ear.. that’s a story for a whole other day ;)). We’re nothing if not planners here and my pinterest board has been brimming with ideas from basically the second I saw two lines on that little stick!

I had been haphazardly pinning any and everything that peaked my interest, but once we found out Little Ear was a he, I was able to narrow my focus a bit. After browsing on the Pottery Barn Kids website, I found a bedding set that I fell in love with, and it helped to form the theme of the nursery to what it is today. If I had to summarize what my theme is, the best way to describe it would be Modern Safari, though just seeing that written out sounds kinda ridic, so here are some pictures that really sum it up!

1. Tobin Nursery Bedding, Pottery Barn Kids ($19.00 – $149.00) - The main inspiration behind my theme. I love that the grey and white palette make it a bit more modern and sleek and keep it from being too cartoonish.

2. World Map, Made By Girl ($59.00, though sadly no longer available, but similar prints found here) - I think I had this map mentally pinned for a couple years now and always knew it'd be going in a baby room one day. As soon as I found out it was a boy, it was the first thing I ordered!

3. Babyletto Mercer Crib, Amazon ($366.26) - I love the two-toned color of this crib and makes it a bit more masculine than all white, which I was initially considering. Plus now I'm able to pick up white and/or brown in the rest of the decor.

4. Where the Wild Things Are Artwork, Etsy ($5.00) - I came across this on Pinterest and after seeing that it was a digital download at a steal of a price, I knew it was a perfect addition to the nursery walls!

5. Giraffe Sconce, Jonathan Adler ($195.00) - Not sure if I'll be investing in this one, since it's a bit of splurge item (especially since I'll need 2!), but a girl can dream.

6. Baby Monkey Print, The Animal Print Shop ($25.00) - This picture cracks me up every time and it fits the theme perfectly!

7. Zebra Rug, Pottery Barn Kids ($79.00 - $249.00) - I received this as a gift from my mom once I decided on the animal theme and in my opinion the perfect way to do animal print without it being ANIMAL PRINT!

8. Pillow, Baby Bedding ($37.00) - This print is adorable and ties in a little blue, which is what we are planning to paint walls.

9. Rattan Elephant Hamper, Home Decorators Collection ($61.99) - Another more extravagant item, but too precious to resist!

So what do you think of my modern take on safari?  Any hits or misses?

- M
