Maternity Must Haves Part 1: Everyday Survival

Hey Gals!

Being pregnant is literally a life-altering change you spend 9 (almost 10!) months going through, and often it’s not the smoothest of rides. Your body, your emotions and at times your sanity are going through a roller coaster of changes, and I think every mama-to-be deserves to treat herself as best as possible during this exciting time! At times this means indulging in one of your favorite treats to sooth those can’t shake cravings. Other times it means finding that perfect little black dress that enhances your bump in just the right way to make you feel beautiful. Most of all, it’s just finding that one or two things that help get you through your day! I thought it would be fun to put together a list of my maternity must-haves, starting with my everyday survival items.

Everyday survival:
Vitamin Water Zero– Not a day goes by where I don’t have one of these. I strive to drink at least 8 cups of water a day so adding a bottle of this into the mix helps me to meet my goal and it often feels like a treat because I love it so much.
Annie’s Shells and Aged Cheddar – During my first trimester I had many “everything is gross” days where food just didn’t appeal to me. The only thing I really tolerated was pasta, and specifically macaroni and cheese. I discovered Annie’s organic shells and cheese and it was love at first taste! Finally something that wasn’t gross and in my mind, slightly better than having the Kraft variety.
Motherhood Leggings – Early on in my pregnancy, I purchased two pairs of these leggings, though was a little doubtful of the quality since they were such a bargain. Turns out it was one of the best purchases made to date, as I live in them! As soon as I get home front work, my work clothes come off and these go on. I love that the belly band is a nice stretchy material, while the legging part is cotton. I’ve found that the pricier leggings which feature an all stretchy/lycra material tend to get saggy in the crotch as the day goes on, but not these! Perfect all day and all night!
Snoggle Body Pillow – The snoggle is a pretty common pregnancy purchase and after I happily bought mine, I soon discovered why – this thing is awesome! I love contorting it in all shapes when I’m just lounging around watching tv and using it as a body pillow when I sleep at night.
Tums – Oh tums.. how I hate to love you! Pre-pregnancy I suffered from acid reflux and now my heartbeart woes have only magnified with pregnancy. Since my previous remedy, a monthly prescription of Prevacid, was off the table once I discovered I was pregnant, Tums has been my only salvation. After sampling every variety they make, I like the Berry flavors the best, and always keep a supply in my purse.

So all you moms and moms-to-be out there, what is/was in your arsinal for surviving your pregnancy? And stay tuned for next time when I share my special indulgences, and the items that fall somewhere in between (yet still very necessary!).

  1. The Snoggle!! Oh, how I would have loved that back in the day when I was pregnant!! Great suggestions as usual, M!

  2. Is it bad that I want my own Snoggle even though I'm not pregnant?

Thanks for visiting The Sequin Notebook! We LOVE hearing from you :)
