Sequiney Pinspiration: DIY Glitzy Wine Bottle

Hey Gals!  Today we were feeling a little crafty, so we decided to take a little sequiney pinspiration and turn it into a fun DIY project to see if we could recreate one of our recent pins

Well turned out this was a sequiney success, and couldn't have been easier!

We took an old wine bottle (well not that old, seeing as it was left over from last night!) and turned it into an eye catching accent piece to feature on my home bar!  And the best part was that I already had all of the items required without having to take a trip to the craft store.  Below is an easy tutorial on how we created this glitzy little bottle of cheers!  And be sure to check out our Pinterest page and let us know which project we should try to recreate next!

To start, you'll need the following supplies:

  • Left over wine bottle
  • Glitter of choice
  • glue
  • acrylic paint
  • foam brush

Next, follow these easy steps:

Step 1: After you remove the labels on your wine bottle, paint the neck of the bottle with your paint of choice, using your foam brush.  I ended up needing 4 coats to get it completely opaque, and it worked best to wait for each coat to dry before applying the next.  Also, don't worry about perfectly painting the neck, since the bottom half will just end up getting covered in glitter!

Step 2: After the paint is completely dry on the top of the bottle, apply a thorough coat of glue to the entire bottom.  After I covered the bottle, I went back around and evened out the glue to ensure I didn't have any clumps or bald spots.  I used Martha Stewart Glittering Glue, though I'm sure Elmers would probably work just as well.  I just like using this glue because it applies nicely with the included brush applicator!

Step 3: Apply generous amounts of glitter, covering the glued area completely.  Don't worry if you end up with a couple of bald spots, as you can always touch up once dry.  Also, I can't say this enough, but save that glitter!  Always use a glitter catcher so you can pour the leftover glitter back in the container for next time!!

And there you have it!  A beautiful, glitzy showpiece to display on your home bar, or even use as a centerpiece at your next party.

This bottle is the perfect accompaniment to my home bar - especially when coupled with my fabulously glitzy M flask (thanks B!)
These would also work great as candle holders across your dinner table - the possibilities are really endless!  In this case, I stuck with gold to keep true to the original pinspiration, but I'm also picturing how pretty this would look in some jewel tones, or holiday colors!  What does everyone think - pinspiration win?!  And what color(s) are you planning on crafting with your next empty bottle of wine?
