Watermelon-tini

Now that summer is really heating up, it's time to share one of our favorite warm weather indulgences...the watermelon-tini!

Since we are super dedicated bloggers, we decided to experiment with this cocktail by whipping up a big batch to taste test during our last BFF gals date (it's a tough job, but we're workaholics when it comes to TSN!). Read on to learn how you can create this summertime staple in your own kitchen...

Watermelon-tini

1 part vodka of choice
1.5 parts watermelon rum (we prefer Bacardi)
2 parts fresh watermelon juice

To make fresh watermelon juice, just slice up a watermelon...

...and puree it in your blender, then strain through a fine mesh strainer to catch all the seeds.  This makes a big batch, so feel free to freeze the rest.

Combine the above ingredients in a martini shaker (or mason jar!) along with a bunch of ice, then shake up and strain into a martini glass.

Don't forget to an optional watermelon wedge garnish!

This was the perfect refreshing beverage to accompany our night of gal talk and crafting, so we encourage you to share a big batch with your BFF this summer!

(Jokey double martini glass photo shoot with massive chunks of watermelon is entirely optional).

What's your favorite flavor of summer?

Linking up today with Emily, Kate, Jennifer Juniper, Emily, Kristen, Emily, Mandy, and Mandy.

    1. It definitely is super easy to whip together, which makes up for the fresh juice componenet. And honestly, the worst part is just cleaning up the blender afterwards, but it's definitely worth it since one watermelon makes a huge batch that can be enjoyed all summer long!

    1. It was new to me too! But once I saw it on the shelf, I knew it'd be the perfect pairing, and mixed with the vodka, it keeps it from being too sweet. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Oh no - sorry for the tease! But in the meantime, you can easily make this a mocktail with a little club soda! You should check out the post I did from last summer on my favorite mocktails. I was pregnant then and while it was pretty tough, sometimes just drinking something other than water out of a fancy glass helps!

    1. I think the fresh watermelon really makes a big difference since I know I've had many "fancy" cocktails from bars that end up tasting syrupy or too sweet, but not this one!
