We're so excited to bring you our first annual Holiday Card Link-up! We had an absolute blast putting together our holiday card and working with some fabulous sponsors, so today we're taking you behind the scenes of our festive photo shoot. Make sure you link up your holiday card posts at the bottom!
This entire photoshoot wouldn’t have been possible if not for our fabulous photographer, Alex Peterson from Idalia Photography. Alex is a NJ Wedding Photographer who also happened to shoot Little M’s adorable newborn photographs, so we were absolutely thrilled when she agreed to photograph our holiday card for us!
We were just a *tad* excited so of course we had to commemorate the day on M's chalkboard wall! (crappy iPhone pic - Alex's beautiful photos are below!)
We’ll be giving a full review of her work in the new year, so keep a look out for that, but you can see how talented she is just by looking at the photos! The pictures turned out better than we could have ever imagined and we are so grateful that she was able to capture our best, galish selves! We decided to use three themes for the shoot and she was game for pretty much everything we threw at her!
Our first setup was our party look.
We donned our finest dresses and accessories and toasted to a fabulous year with lots of champagne and cupcakes (and nail polish, of course! Wait.. you mean you don’t often include nail polish on your cake plates?!).
Our fantastic party set-up came together thanks to the
One of our favorite items offered by Sugar Confetti is the confetti wand, which would be perfect for New Year's Eve (or really, any party). We had a little too much fun with ours and started tossing the confetti at Alex:
Our next theme was more of an outdoorsy look…
and by outdoorsy we mean fur, heels, sparkly headbands and hats…
...and your classic woodland accessories – a metallic champagne wreath, gold confetti balloons, a jaunty pair of glitzy nutcrackers and some custom burlap and sequined stockings. These glitzy stockings were created by
We are beyond obsessed with this wreath from Treetopia – and believe us that it’s even more stunning in person!
We fell in love with all of their colorful tree and wreath options after seeing them showcased at a blogger event back in November, so we knew we just had to have one of their gorgeous wreaths for our holiday card. We also loved the whimsy of our gold confetti balloons, which were also supplied courtesy of
For our last scene, we knew we really wanted to get some close-ups, so we decided to use a sparkly backdrop so our surroundings didn’t distract in the photos.
We selected this dreamy silver bokeh 5x5 backdrop from My Back Drop Shop, and it set our winter wonderland scene perfectly.
Of course we couldn't resist adding in our signature initials - while it usually reads as B & M we were thrilled to switch it up and give a little holiday nod to our celebrity dream boat, Michael Buble!
The 5x5 is on the smaller side, so if you’re looking to do more full length photos, we’d recommend getting a size or two bigger, but for our close-ups it worked great!
The material is a very thick vinyl which makes it very sturdy and easy to hang, as well as easy to roll up and store without doing any damage.
A little behind the scenes action - please excuse our crappy iPhone picture!
We were also very impressed by how beautifully the backdrop photographs and how realistic it looks - it definitely doesn’t look like vinyl in the photos!
We're more than a little obsessed with these guys who are lovingly referred to now as our nutcracker boyfriends!
And for the grand reveal - our finished product!
The front of our card
And when you open it up, a little glitz and sass from The Gals!
We managed to put our own stamp on these cards as they were designed by M, who can be found on her Etsy shop at
And just because Alex captured so many images that we love, here are our few of our favorites that didn't make it into the final card:
We'd like to thank everyone who participated in our Sequin Card Swap - thanks for sharing the holidays with us in this special way! Now it's your turn to link up and share your holiday cards...it can be the cards you sent/received in the swap, or your personal card...we want to see them all!
