Five on Friday {January 23, 2015}

Happy Friday! Even though it was a short work week thanks to Monday's holiday, I'm still quite ready for the weekend! I've been out of the city the past two weekends so I'm looking forward to spending some time close to home but before we get into that, here are five things I'm loving this week!

Martin Luther King Day

Not only did Monday provide tons of inspiration courtesy of the many Dr. King quotes all over social media, but it also provided a much-needed day off from work, which was quite welcome! My day off was a mix of work, play, and tacking some errands that I've been pushing off for a long time. For example...

New phone

...I finally upgraded my phone to the iPhone 6! I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that not only was I still using an old iPhone 4S that had no battery life and couldn't get app updates, but I've been eligible for a phone upgrade for over a year and hadn't taken the plunge yet. After some gentle prodding (and a slight temper tantrum bit of concern on my part), T and I made our way to the Apple store and I walked out with a beautiful new gold iPhone 6! I had originally thought I might get the 6 Plus but that dream was squashed when I tried to hold it in one hand and text and realized my thumb could physically not reach the A key - haha! I've only had it for a few days but I'm already completely in love and not sure how I lasted without it for so long!

J's concert

In addition to being a fabulous TSN guest poster, my bestie J is also an outrageously talented songwriter! He was performing some songs off of his new album, so T and I made our way downtown to the concert venue and spent an awesome night rocking out to J's catchy tunes. Of course, we also had to make an appearance at the afterparty, which led to a pretty eventful Monday night out on the town!

My candy obsession

Almost exactly a year ago, I wrote about my obsession with Brach's conversation hearts and my annual hunt for my seasonal sugar crush. This year, the hunt for this elusive treat was over before it started when T surprised me with a jumbo bag of the hearts, plus a small bag of red-only conversation hearts (which I had never seen before!). I've pretty much been inhaling them after dinner every night this week...which reminds me, I should probably make a dental appointment.

Gals Birthday Brunch

One of the reasons I'm super excited for this weekend is that M is coming to town with GG and Little M! We're having a group brunch on Saturday which will also serve as an early birthday celebration for M. I'm super psyched to hang with my bestie and co-blogger, so keep an eye on our Instagram on Saturday to keep up with our adventures!

I hope you all have super fun weekends - what are your plans?

Thanks to our gals AmandaJennieKarliClare, Rebecca, Katie, Natasha, Heather, and Tif for hosting today's link-ups!

  1. Sounds like you've got an awesome weekend ahead of you!!
I still have my iphone4s with no upgrade in sight and serious battery drainage. My bf just got the 6+ after Christmas and although the it doesn't fit in my hand very well (I look like a granny tapping each key with one finger) it works so much better than the 4s that I'll deal with the size issue.
    Have a wonderful weekend girls!

  10. um I totally want some of those hearts. It has been an age since I had them. I got a 6 last year - like November maybe? Yeah right before thanksgiving, and I was totally using a 4, not even a 4S and it had seen better days lol!

  15. I love that MLK graphic! And I also have a 4S right now and have been meaning to upgrade. Luckilly my battery life is fine and I can still do upgrades or Id probably be in a hurry to replace them faster! My husband has a 5C and 5S, so Im sure we will have a 6 sometime soon. Happy Friday!

  16. Admittedly I have a huge thing for conversation hearts as well. I can't believe some people find them gross! My fiance (then boyfriend) once made me this giant cardboard heart with little conversation hearts glued all the way around the outside as a massive valentine's day gift our junior year in college. I still have it!

  17. Yes, I love those little sweet treats too... For me it's the combo of the little love notes and the iconic hearts that get me all excited. I love bday brunches too, always full of great fashion, great food, awesome convo, and tasty mimosas!!!! Have fun and happy bday to the bday girl!

  18. Ah I'm so jealous you got the 6! I have the 5s, but that's only because I had to upgrade last summer and couldn't hold out for the new one to be released. I was using a 4 (not even s!) and it was so slow and the camera quality was horrible. Looks like you have a fun weekend ahead of you!

  19. I had the gold iphone6 too and I love it. Definitely worth the upgrade!
