Monthly Favorites: January Edition

Hey Gals! Today I’m excited to link-up with Mia and Kelli and share some of my favorites from the past month.  I always love reading these posts and discovering great new finds, so hopefully I can lend a little inspiration back in return!

I received this face wash sample in my January Birchbox and it was pretty much love at first try! But now after having used it pretty much daily until the sample ran out, I love it even more.  It’s very gentle (as the name suggests) but still does a great job leaving my face feeling super clean and refreshed, without any residual dryness or tightness.  I’ve been using it in the morning to wash my face in the shower, when serious heavy lifting makeup removal isn’t needed.  While I know some people don’t think it’s necessary to wash both at night and in the morning, I’m a twice a day kind of gal, so the gentleness is perfect for morning use - I’ll definitely be ordering this one and incorporating in my skincare routine.

I’ve shared my love of this via Instagram, but I need to give it one more shout out since I’m totally in love! B really outdid herself with this one, and I have a feeling I’ll be adding a glitter accent nail to my mani’s until I run out.  The application was super easy, too, which is great for someone who is normally awful at any sort of “nail art”.  The kit comes with a jar of chunky glitter and an adhesive.  You simply apply the adhesive to your nail once and let dry, then again and while still wet, dip your nail into the glitter. Then you just press down on the glitter, and apply a final coat of the adhesive, allowing to dry for 20 minutes. Now I know what you’re thinking.. M, I love glitter as much as the next gal, but it’s the worst to remove!! Well let me introduce you to my next obsession…

Target Up&Up single use nail polish remover pads!!  I was recently running late for a party, and had no time to remove my cringe worthy chipped polish.  Luckily, I happen to hit up Target on my way to the party (to pick-up a last minute gift –opps..) and passed by the beauty aisle on my way to check out.  I spotted this to-go pack of polish remover pads and figured I could at least do a last ditch attempt to rid my nails of chipped embarrassment on the car ride to the party (not to worry, I wasn’t driving!). I wasn’t expecting much, so imagine my surprise when one pad quickly, easily, and cleanly removed all of my chipped polish! Normally I go through many cotton pads, soaked in remover to get every last bit of polish off (especially when it’s a dark color or a glitter..which is often what I wear!), but this baby did the trick with just one pad.  And it’s a hefty felt material, so it gently removed glitter easily, while not ripping apart – LOVE!

GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD
Yup, another blogger singing the praises of Glamglow! But obviously millions of bloggers can’t be wrong.. right?! After racking up some Birchbox points and receiving a 25% off coupon from them, I figured it was finally time to jump on the Glamglow bandwagon and see if it lived up to the hype.  Well consider me sold! After just one use, I can already see a difference in my pores, plus I love feeling the tingle (that means it’s working!) and seeing all of the gross oil seep through the mud to the surface of my skin (so gross, yet sooo satifisying!).  If you’re on the fence about trying this one, I definitely recommend it, and while it is pretty expensive, you can usually find some sort of deal – between my BB points and coupon, I only ended up spending just under $25 (down from the original price of $69 – score!). Or if you aren’t sure which one to try, check out this sample pack that Pamela suggested here!

Plum Paper Design Planner

And speaking of jumping on blogger bandwagons.. I also received my Plum Papers Planner in January and I’m officially in list-making and organizational heaven! After seeing rave review from Mia, Joey, and B, I knew I needed this planner in my life.  I think my very favorite part (other than the cover design I went with!) is the blog planning section I was able to add-on! I can’t wait to fill it up throughout the year and track every little bloggy detail, which will hopefully make me more organized and productive!

I know this one is pretty random, but I love it, so I'm adding it to the list! We grabbed this from Wegmans with no real purpose, other than we like spicy, so why not?! Well I’m very glad we did because this oil has quickly become a staple in our cooking arsenal.  GG and I have pretty much been subbing this in for regular olive oil, any time a recipe calls for it, giving the dish the perfect kick of spicy flavor.  It also works great as a marinade – we recently used on shrimp, which we then served over pasta and it was delish! If you like spicy, definitely check this out, though be careful, because it’s definitely hot, hot, hot and a little goes a long way!

Dollar Tree Valentine’s Day Goodies

A couple weeks back, I innocently popped into my local Dollar Tree on the way home from work and OMG..as usual, it was a goldmine of goodies, and 10 minutes later I left with 2 bags full of Valentine goodness! It’s no secret that B and I love Dollar Tree, and often check it out before a holiday to see what sort of seasonal delights they have to offer.  This time around it was all about Valentine’s Day, and I was able to snag some great gift bags, hearts of all shapes, sizes and forms, and even some heart shaped glasses! Even though I didn’t have a specific purpose for most of this at the time, I knew it’d eventually come in handy, and in fact, I plan to use a bunch of these goodies in our upcoming Monthly Cocktail link-up next week (don’t forget to join us next Tuesday, btw!).  At just a dollar a piece, these gems are the perfect way to incorporate the upcoming holiday and I can’t wait to have lots of fun styling them for our pictures! So for all the bloggers out there who are looking to improve their pictures, I definitely recommend checking out Dollar Tree – whether it’s simple glassware, or seasonal d├ęcor, it’s my go-to for “styling up” otherwise boring pictures for my posts!

What are your favorites from the past month?
