Five on Friday {April 17, 2015}

It's finally Friday, and we're definitely feeling the love for the weekend! This week has been a bit hectic as we are preparing for a major upcoming special event at work so I am definitely looking forward to some relaxation. Of course, it just wouldn't be Friday without counting down five things we're loving this week!

Summer Vacation = BOOKED!
My big news of the week is that T and I officially booked our summer vacation, and will be traveling to Punta Cana in August! I visited the DR once before on a Gals Trip with M, and I'm super excited to return for some more fun in the sun. Our resort is an adult-only all-inclusive with absolutely amazing reviews, so even though it's still several months away, I'm happy that it's all settled and I'm already looking forward to it!

True Detective

My most recent late-to-the-party Netflix bingefest of choice has been True Detective. So many people have told me that I would love this show since I always get wrapped up in a good mystery, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to actually try it out but I'm happy that I finally did! I'm already hooked on it, and can't wait for season 2 to start up this summer. Any other fans out there?

Cast iron cooking
{Image}
For my recent birthday, T's parents gifted me with a cast iron skillet and I've decided that I will finally be trying it out this weekend. I'm a complete novice and have never cooked in one before, so I'm asking all of you southern gals out there...what are your must-have, most delicious cast iron recipes?

Warm weather in NYC! (Finally!)

After an eternal winter, I'm feeling downright giddy about the fact that NYC is expecting a high of 75 degrees tomorrow! It's finally time for some sandals, sundresses, and sunshine! I'm not quite sure how I'll be spending the day, but I bet that a visit to a beer garden or city rooftop will be on the agenda at some point. I'm just thrilled that I'll finally be able to venture outside without a coat!

DIY Kitchen Wall Makeover
{Image}
If I'm able to drag myself indoors, I'm planning to start a DIY project I've had on my mind for awhile...since my studio apartment is so tiny (and I'm not allowed to paint the walls), my options for decor are limited but I've been loving the wall decal trend. I feel like it might be overwhelming in my main living space, so I bought some metallic gold polka dots and plan to use them to freshen up my kitchen walls with a brand-new look. If all goes well, there will be photos and a tutorial coming to the blog soon!

Wishing you a sparkly weekend!

Cheers to AmandaJennieKarliClare, Rebecca, Katie, Natasha, Heather, Farrah, and Tif for hosting today's link-ups!

  16. Your trip this summer will be amazing! So jealous. Loving the walls in that kitchen; it's like Kate Spade's NYC play house! I have a cast iron skillet and love to sear steaks on the stove and finish them in the oven, but that's as far as I've gotten with using mine. Hope you both have a fabulous weekend :)
