We love any chance we get to hang out in the city together, especially when it combines some of our favorite things like photo booths, skyline views, yummy cocktails and apps, live music, celebrities, and details, details, details! We were thrilled to recently attend a Dress for Success event that featured ALL of these items - it was a fantastic Gals Night Out that gave us plenty of ideas for our own future parties (because you know we are always planning some kind of event, no matter how far in advance it may be!).
The headliners of this concert cocktail celebration were The Mrs Band who were debuting their new single, "You Told Me." These ladies definitely made a great impression right from the start when we walked into a pretty pink oasis at the Top of the Rock with flowers, cocktails, and band-themed swag everywhere.
After taking in the venue's decor and mingling for a bit, it was time to kick off the performance with some remarks from our celebrity host, Jenny McCarthy! She is absolutely tiny and stunning in person, and literally does not appear to have aged at all since her "Singled Out" days...total sidebar, but how has that show not been rebooted yet?! Andy Cohen, we're looking at YOU to make it happen (and speaking of Bravo, here's sidebar #2...we were hoping to have some girl talk with Jenny to gush about how we immediately saw the sparks flying between her and Donnie Wahlburg when they appeared as guests together on Watch What Happens Live but sadly we didn't get a chance. Oh well, there's always next time!).
Anyway, back to the event! Jenny was just as bold and brassy as you would expect, which gave the night a very lively start.
After that, it was time for the live performance by The Mrs Band! These ladies definitely rocked it out with their new track.
Now for the details that made it all come together...we loved that there were bathroom baskets filled with some really handy toiletries and on-the-go fixes, especially since we (like many other attendees) had come to the event straight from the office. It was a really considerate touch, and there was even a little poem to accompany it.
There were sequin and logo pillows galore, which clearly speak to our hearts.
Just when we thought we had seen every customizable party favor option, along came these Mrs-branded earplugs for the concert - genius!
The event took place right before Mother's Day and The Mrs Band is really into promoting female empowerment, so we thought it was a really sweet gesture that they provided postcards that you could mail to your mom. And hey, they also earned a few bonus points by pairing the postcards with a feathery pen, a la Cher Horowitz! (Wow, we're really hanging onto these 90s pop culture references today).
Now, onto the area that can make or break any party...the menu! This bash was filled to the brim with wine and refreshing signature cocktails...there was even a martini ice luge.
From the taco cart to the wall of mini appetizers, all of the food was tasty and perfectly presented.
Come on, how cute are these ice cream sandwiches in their individual metallic wrappers?
And now for the piece de resistance...the Make Your Own Doughnut Bar.
Yup, you heard us.
The trays of toppings and wide variety of syrups ensured that no two doughnuts were exactly alike that night!
The Mrs Band also got creative with their party activities...we loved watching these two artists work on a blank canvas throughout the event, and seeing how the art shifted throughout the evening.
Of course, we can never resist a classic photobooth, especially when there is a huge selection of props and signs!
We may have had just a little too much fun in there.
As if all this wasn't enough, the party concluded with a swag bag filled with some awesome goodies, including these gemmy Kendra Scott earrings.
Obviously, we were not ready for the night to end, so we snuck into a nearby Applebee's for a quick drink and snack (yes, with all of NYC at our disposal, we still chose Applebee's...what can we say, it reminds us of our high school days!). It turns out our lucky night wasn't quite over yet as we started chatting with a group of Blue Moon representatives...and discovered that one of the people in the group was Blue Moon's founder, Keith Villa!
Obviously, we couldn't say goodbye to Keith without snapping a pic, especially after he had been so kind as to buy us a round of Blue Moons.
It was totally an event to remember, and the kind of awesomely random night that can only be truly appreciated with your BFF. After all, who else is going to grab a centerpiece and pose with it on her head for a picture?
