Five on Friday {October 16, 2015}

Happy Friday, gals! I've been battling a nasty cold this week, but I'm happy to be holding down the fort here today while M is off in Cali to shoot her Wheel of Fortune episode. Between that and my Millionaire experience, we really need to write some behind-the-scenes game show posts soon! In the meantime, here are the five things I've been loving this week.

New laptop!
After slowly chugging along with my trusty old MacBook for the past 4+ years, it was time for an upgrade in the form of a brand new MacBook Pro! I'm so happy that I'm finally up to speed again so that I can keep up with all of my blog reading, commenting, and writing because my old machine was seriously slowing me down...I was so sick of seeing that eternally-spinning color wheel!

Fall Fun Days

I'm all about the seasonal fun, and since the nice fall weather is here for such a short time in NYC before the bitter winter cold moves in, I've been trying to make the most of this beautiful October. Luckily, T has been game to accompany me on my fall fun frenzy and so far we've hit up the apple picking orchards, a pumpkin patch, and an epic corn maze. Oh, and I finally completed my search for my favorite new fall hat!

What are some of your fall traditions?

Lovely Happenings

When she wound up having a conflict with the date, the ever-lovely Pamela generously offered me her tickets to attend the Lovely Happenings fall workshop event. You guys, it was seriously like Pinterest had exploded in the room! We were surrounded by confetti balloons, chalkboard signs, photo walls, and all sorts of DIY opportunities...it was adorable!

The event included so many fun stations with great activities...I was able to decorate cupcakes and pumpkins, make my own sugar body scrub, craft a beautiful leather tassel accessory, get my nails done, dip caramel apples, and sample some yummy treats and bubbles from the mimosa bar...all in the span of less than 2 hours, since I was heading straight from there to a bachelorette party brunch!

Thanks to my pal A (who recently hosted the End of the Roaring 20s Party) for joining me in this morning of girly fun!

Escape the Room

True story - when I was a kid, my dream job was to be a secret agent in the FBI (complete with a black leather catsuit, of course) so when I first heard about Escape the Room, I was dying to give it a try! The basic concept is that you are locked inside a room and you have to work as team to find clues and solve puzzles that will help you find the key to escape. The company has several different theme rooms, so my friends and I teamed up to escape from the James Bond room. It was pretty intense and we all had moments of frustration as well as triumphant break-throughs, and I'm pleased to report that we succeeded in escaping! I had assumed that most groups escape, but apparently that is not the case (and just to brag for a second, our time was the fastest escape from the room that week...and I know this because I stalked every single group's photo in their weekly Facebook album, haha!). I may not have fulfilled my childhood dream of becoming an actual spy (...or have I? hmmm) but this was an awesome substitution. They have several locations all over the county so if there is one by you, I highly recommend giving it a try!

Eleni's Cookies

Eleni's Cookies is always a go-to place for when I want to send someone the perfect sweet treat - in fact, M and I used the Eleni's taxi cookies as one of the favors at our blogger brunch last fall!

Lately, I'm especially loving the Color Me! Cookies that come with edible ink markers - how fun would they be at a Halloween party? Use code BETTERCANDY now through 10/21 for any Color Me! Cookies!

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and an even better Saturday and Sunday!

Cheers to AprilAmandaJennieKarliClare, Rebecca, Katie, Heather, and Tif for hosting today's link-ups!

  18. I hope you feel better soon! Apple picking and pumpkin patches, I don't think you can get any "fall-er" than that! That's so awesome that y'all were able to break out of the room so fast, and I had no idea that not everybody is able to get out.

  26. Ok, I know M won't be able to say anything about how things went until her episode airs, but I have full faith and confidence in her! Can't wait to watch it. The Lovely Happenings event looks like it was a blast! I wish we had something similar! We do have something similar to the Escape, but I haven't tried it yet. And you look adorable in your fall pics--love the hat! We just went to a pumpkin patch today and it was so much fun!!!
