Five on Friday {October 2, 2015}

It's the first Friday of October, and fall is definitely in full swing in New York City! I had been looking forward to a fun weekend filled with apple picking, pumpkin carving, and getting lost in a corn maze, but it looks like Mother Nature may have other plans as a hurricane is supposedly heading our way. As we hunker down to face the storm, here are the 5 things I'm loving this week.

Monday Funday

This week started out in the best possible way...with an extended, long weekend and no work on Monday! T's sister was in town visiting so we were able to enjoy a leisurely Monday brunch, followed by some shopping and pedicures. I had to laugh when they brought us our brunch check tucked cozily into a retro Xena the Warrior Princess novel...I mean, I love brunch and all (and even started a monthly Brunch Club), but it's definitely the most hipster meal ever and this twee check-holder brought it to a new, hilarious level!

Halloween decorations

Turning the calendar page to October means that it's officially ok to fully embrace the Halloween holiday spirit by splashing tons of witches, pumpkin spice candles, and spooky d├ęcor all over your home (at least, that's how I'm justifying my recent decorating spree!). I'm a total sucker for seasonal glassware, so I was thrilled when T surprised me with some new Halloween wineglasses and other cute decorations from Papyrus (what can I say, he's a keeper). These will clearly be on rotation throughout the rest of the month - I love them all, but my current favorite is definitely "Ghostess with the Mostess."

Scream Queens

While we're on the topic of spooky things...who else is watching Scream Queens?! I have to admit, I was quite reluctant to try it at first because I am a total baby when it comes to anything scary or gory (I mean, I've never even seen Scream!). When I heard from friends that it was more campy, classic Ryan Murphy fare than traditional horror, I gave it a shot and I'm so happy I did because it has kept me laughing! Any other fans out there?!

Nate Berkus for Target

The Nate Berkus line at Target has always been a favorite, but this handsome guy has truly outdone himself this time! T and I are in the home stretch of outfitting our apartment and Nate has totally come to the rescue. We purchased our living room rug, some dishes and bowls, a lamp, and a bunch of desk accessories from his new line (and let's face it, there are plenty of other items still on my wish list). I'm loving all of the gold and the geometric shapes!

We go to an annual Halloween party every year that Chris DJ's and they always have the coolest themed parties. This year has a space theme. Cant wait to see how they decorate. 21. All of the things you wanted to do for this weekend sounds so quintessentially fall and sound like such a wonderful way to spend a weekend in the fall. What a bummer that the weather has interrupted those plans! I have never watched scream queens but I will have to look into it! Thanks for the recommendation!
