Hey Gals! I'm a bit of a subscription box junkie, so when the latest Target Beauty Box went on sale, I couldn't resist ordering one and finally checking it out. Every couple months or so, Target releases these specialty sample boxes, that range from $5-$10, and contain a bunch of beauty samples. Their September box was only $5, and featured all L'Oréal products, which I've always been a fan of, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to order myself a small treat. I love that you see exactly what you're getting too - every product that was in the box was listed when I ordered, so no surprises here. While it's always fun to be surprised with my monthly Birchbox, there's also something to be said with knowing exactly what you're ordering.. no surprises, but also no disappointments! So I thought it would be fun to share the contents of the box today:
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara
As per Target: Create a more defined, voluminous look with a formula that soften and builds lashes up to 5 times their natural thickness.
My take on it: I've loved this mascara for years and was excited to get a full size tube of it! It definitely bulks up my skimpy lashes, without clumping, so this alone was pretty much a seller of the box for me.
L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Shampoo
As per Target: This revolutionary shampoo works both instantly and over time to help repair the 5 visible signs of damaged, overworked hair.
My take on it: I was excited to receive this right before my LA trip, since it's carry-on friendly! After using it for a couple of days, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not sure if I'd call it "revolutionary", like Target did.. but I do think I'd try out the full size bottle when I run out.
L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray
As per Target: A cult beauty fave, this legendary hairspray offers an all-day, strong hold with a soft, shiny finish.
My take on it: I love, love, love this hairspray! It's been a favorite of mine for years, and definitely lives up to it's cult status. It magically does hold your hair all-day, without leaving that crunchy effect.
L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal Night Cream
As per Target: This rich, creamy moisturizer helps speed cell renewal for more youthful looking skin.
My take on it: Sadly, you'll notice I didn't include a picture of this one.. since it wasn't included in my box, even though it was listed on the website and on the product card. I plan to call to Target and see if they can still ship a sample out to me since the description sounds pretty promising.
L’Oréal Paris True Match Shade Strips
As per Target: Shade-matching technology helps you find the perfect liquid foundation color for your skin.
My take on it: This one was a bit of a throw-away in my book, though I guess it would be helpful if you're in the market for a new foundation. I would think they should just hand these out on the display, in-store, since Target doesn't have samples on display to try out their colors, but didn't do much for me at home.
L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Volume Filler
As per Target: Advanced re-volumizing technology helps improve skin’s volume with hyaluronic acid and Fibroxyl.
My take on it: I haven't had a chance to try this out yet, but I'm excited to try it. I feel like the sample could have been a little larger, as I'm not sure if I can really see any sort of effects with the small packet included.
L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Ultimate Straight
As per Target: This smoothing shampoo formula reacts with heat to maximize straightening & minimize damage.
My take on it: This is another one that I haven't tried yet, but very excited for. Since cutting my hair, I like to wear it pretty straight, so I'm hoping this will help fight any frizz. Plus I like that they included all 3-steps of the "system" so I can get the full experience.
And as an additional bonus, the box contained a $5 off $20 coupon! I'll definitely be tucking this away for my next Target beauty haul!
Overall, I was pretty happy with this box, considering I only paid $5, especially given how much I love the hairspray and mascara. I am pretty disappointed that one of the items were left out of the box, but I plan to call Target and see if they can send out the missing item. I do think it's a great, cheap way to try out new products, so I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering future boxes.
Has anyone else tried out Target Beauty Box - are you a fan?! What other subscription boxes should I try out?
