"Stick Wine" Review + Kendra Scott/Sephora GIVEAWAY!

My friend A (who you may remember as the host of the Roaring 20s Party) and her husband H recently invited T and me to have dinner at their home. Whereas my dinner parties tend to feature frozen apps from Trader Joe's (hey, I'm focusing on the cocktails!), their meals look more like this:

Is your jaw on the floor like mine?

Yup, they were serving up some short ribs that had been slow cooking for the past 72 hours. I'll repeat that: 72 HOUR SLOW COOKED SHORT RIBS. Obviously, we know how to pick our friends.

I can't be trusted in the kitchen for 72 minutes, so I was more than happy to pull up a chair at their plentiful table. T and I tasked ourselves with bringing some red wine to pair with this ridiculously fantastic feast.

I love trying different kinds of wine based purely on appealing labels even though the results can be hit or miss (what can I say, I truly live on the edge). This wine jumped out at me because of the stick that is tied around its neck, which is essentially the statement necklace accessory that I didn't know I wanted all my wine bottles to wear all the time.

Cantina Zaccahnini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is obviously an Italian wine and as someone who grew up in an Italian family, I've definitely had my fair share of montepulcianos. While I wish I could tell you about the notes, tannins, and all those other things that smart wine people talk about, I'll skip all of that nonsense to tell you that it was surprisingly good for the price point (about $14). It was very smooth and it really paired well with the meal since it allowed the flavors of the short ribs to totally shine! To me, it definitely tastes more expensive than its price tag and is my new go-to wine for those times that I'm a fancy adult who goes to fancy adult dinner parties.

Plus, I mean...that stick is just so much fun.

And to make sure that my review is an accurate representation of the wine, I'm actually enjoying some right now with my dinner...

YUM. This ravioli dish from Cookunity tastes just as amazing as it looks (and since I didn't have to cook, I had more time to "research" the wine tonight for this post!). 3. It's always the best when wine is at a great price point but it tastes way more expensive than what it is. And who doesn't love a cute bottle and label? That just makes the wine even better in my book!

  4. Italian wines are some of my favorite wines. I find many I like at Trader Joe's and Total Wine. I'll be noting this one on my list next time I go for my wine supply.
