Pineapple Dreams

Ever since T and I settled on a golden pineapple theme for our kitchen, I've been obsessively stalking perusing all sorts of pineapple goodness online. I've already shared my cute pineapple meal planner (love it!), so here are a few more of my favorite finds:

We discovered those dish towels at Paper Source before we even moved, so they were the first official pineapple purchase (of many more to come!). So far, we've added this ice cube tray, confetti, coffee mug, and garland to our pineapple arsenal. I'm loving these colorful pineapple dessert plates, and the personalized party cups would be perfect for a barbecue. Of course, you can never have enough washi tape, and I really love how the gold foil in this one is a true metallic (and how it shines on our DIY switch plates). Since I've been spending more time in the kitchen, there's no better way to protect my clothes than with an adorable, appropriately-themed apron...luckily, T's parents thoughtfully mailed this cute little pineapple number as part of our housewarming gift!

What are your favorite pineapple finds? Feel free to send them my way!

Five on Friday: {September 25, 2015}

Happy Friday Gals! This week was a total dud for me.. Little M caught a nasty cold and passed it along to me in the form of bronchitis. So most of my week was spent dying on the couch in a plague of sickness (yeah.. I'm a pretty huge baby when I get sick!). So not too much exciting stuff to report, but I am super excited for the weekend now that I'm finally starting to feel a little better. To kick things off, here are my 5 4 favorites (and 1 not so favorite) of the week:

The Mindy Project Binge Fest

The only bright spot of being deathly ill on the couch for 3 days was that I indulged in waaaayyy too much binge watching of The Mindy Project. I've professed my love of this show before, but I realized that I actually started watching it mid-way through season 2. So I decided to try out the free month that Hulu is currently offering and dig in from the start (side note, THANK YOU Hulu for saving this amazing show!!!). It was seriously the perfect company while I was miserable on the couch and I'm excited to finish it out, and then check out the new episodes that just started airing.

PopSugar Must Have Box

And speaking of Mindy Kaling, did you know that she just came out with a new book?! Besides the binge watching, the only other activity that I was able to muster the strength to do this week was a little online shopping. After being intrigued by the monthly subscription box offered by PopSugar, I finally gave in and order the October box since it includes Mindy's new book! I'm so excited to try it out and I promise to post a full review once I get it. And if you want to check out October's box - feel free to sign up here via this referral link (and I'll love you forever!).

Kate Spade Cobalt Studs

Another little sick day treat that I indulged in.. these gorgeous cobalt studs from Kate Spade. What can I say?! I was all loopy off of medicine and seeing Mindy's fabulous wardrobe for 3 days straight so I decided these beauties needed to be mine. They come next week and I can't wait - I mean, isn't cobalt a must for fall?

Lentil and Sausage Soup
When I finally emerged from my sickness haze this week, I tried out one of the delicious soups on my Fall Recipe Bucket List - the Sausage and Lentil Soup from Smitten Kitchen.  I didn't think it was worth a whole post since I didn't really deviate from the recipe at all, but it sure was delicious. Exactly what the doctor ordered and I recommend you all try it out immediately!

New (Bad!) Haircut

I was pretty hesitant to post about this one, but in the spirit of keeping it real... I went in for a trim 2 weeks ago and basically got scalped! Ok, so maybe that's a little dramatic, but when you ask for a lob right above your shoulders, and leave with a bob above your chin, it's a pretty traumatic experience! And I know, in the scheme of things it's only hair and it will grow back quickly, but I'm just not feeling this haircut and am hoping some of you gals have some magical styling tips. I've been all over The Beauty Department, but sadly nothing has helped - at best, I have days where I don't completely *hate* it. Any other bob gals out there who can help me out and recommend a product or tool or two?!

So while it's been a pretty uneventful week, I'm certainly ready for the weekend! And with any luck I'll finally be healthy enough to have a glass of wine - yay!

Hope you gals all have a fab weekend - what are you all up to?!

Cheers to April, AmandaJennieKarliClare, Rebecca, Katie, Heather, Annie, and Tif for hosting today's link-ups!

Favorite Fall Nail Polishes

Hey Gals! One of my very favorite things about the start of a new season is switching up my beauty routine. While my makeup doesn't change that drastically, I love embracing moodier and deeper nail polish shades. So today I thought I'd round up some of my very favorite go-to fall polishes, along with the fall mani I'm currently sporting.

Essie - In the Lobby

Described as a cinnamon plum, I recently tried this out and it was love at first sight. I love that it's classic mauve with a twist.

Rescue Beauty Lounge - Cerise Noir

The perfect black cherry creme - see my full review here

Butter London - British Racing Green

I love a good dark green, and this one has the most gorgeous shimmer to it, especially in the light.

Deborah Lippmann - Rolling in the Deep

 This is the ultimate navy - it's almost black, but not, and applies like a dream.

Cirque Colors - NYFW

This color is so, so beautiful on, and definitely a lot less bright in person. It's basically the most perfect cobalt blue, plus with the added bonus of Cirque's lasting quality.

Julep - Logan

B gifted me this one for my birthday, and besides the fact that I love the name, it's such a great color. It's dark and moody and smoky purple, with an almost velvet like quality to it - definitely a must try!

And for my current mani - Rescue Beauty Lounge's Fortissimo, a gorgeous deep olive green creme, with an accent nail in Rescue Beauty Lounge's Scrangie 2.0, a metallic bronze that changes in the light. It's hard to tell from the picture, but Fortissimo is definitely green in person - just a super dark, muddy green - perfect for fall, if you ask me!

What are some of your favorite fall nail polish shades?

Slow Cooker Shredded Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

I've been on a mission to diversify my slow cooker recipe repertoire, mainly because crockpot dishes are one of the few things in the kitchen that even I cannot mess up! After having lots of success with my slow cooker beer pulled pork, I set my sights on creating some yummy buffalo chicken.

When it was my turn to host the Crockpot Club, I knew I needed something that would pack a lot of flavor without causing me to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. These buffalo chicken sandwiches were paired with a green salad, a broccoli/carrot lentil slaw, and T's famous homemade fries...I have to say, it was a pretty awesome feast! Now that it's fall, these will definitely be on heavy rotation in our home. In fact, we just made a huge batch of this for our housewarming party and the entire pot was devoured!

Here's all you need to know to create your own (super easy, ridiculously delicious) slow cooker buffalo chicken sandwiches.

Slow Cooker Shredded Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Ingredients (for 4 servings)
* 4 chicken breasts
* 4 hamburger buns
* 12 oz. buffalo wing sauce
* 2 tablespoons ranch mix seasoning
* 2 tablespoons butter
* Blue cheese dressing (to taste)

* In a small bowl, combine the buffalo wing sauce and ranch mix seasoning.

* Place the chicken breasts in a slow cooker, and cover with the hot sauce mixture. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

* Shred the chicken breasts and stir in the butter until melted. Cook on low for an additional hour.

* Add buffalo chicken to buns, and top with blue cheese dressing.

Five on Friday {September 18, 2015}

This Friday is capping off an exciting week of celebrations and favorite new finds! The week started with Little M's 2nd birthday party and hasn't slowed down since; speaking of birthdays...

T's birthday

Yesterday was T's birthday, and the celebration is continuing tonight with a special birthday date night that I've planned for my guy. I think T is looking so fab at 33 that even Tim Riggins is jealous of how well T is pulling off that number, haha (yes, we are major Friday Night Lights fans!).

Housewarming party

Tomorrow is our long-awaited housewarming party! While there are still some missing pieces (just a few furniture items and some wall decor), I'm so happy with how everything has been coming together. Our bar, wall decals, and washi switch plates are just a few of the things I love about our new place, and I can't wait to share them with all of our friends this weekend. Full party details (including the party's location-based theme) and an apartment tour will be coming to the blog soon!

Mad Men

In addition to all of the birthdays and celebrations, I've discovered some new favorites this week...though can something really be considered a "new" favorite when the series has already finished airing? Right from the Season 1 premiere, so many people told me to start watching Mad Men because they thought it was right up my alley but somehow, I never got around to it and then I felt like it was too late to get started. Well, I finally took the plunge and now I'm wondering why I waited so long because I'm already obsessed! I'm still early in Season 1 (no spoilers, please) but excited to see how it all unravels.

Favorite fall cider

Apple cider (both hard and non-alcoholic) is one of my fall staples. It's great on its own as well as the base for an apple cider sangria or a yummy apple cider martini. While recently exploring my new neighborhood, my friend and I stumbled into a craft beer bar where I found McKenzie's Black Cherry hard cider and fell head over heels for this tasty beverage. It's a rich, refreshing cider with a pop of delicious cherry...definitely a great, non-apple alternative that will be a staple in my house this autumn!

Favorite new shop

I was beyond thrilled to discover a little gem of a shop in my neighborhood that carries the most adorable home goods, local wares, gorgeous cards and other paper goods, lovely party supplies, and more! Lockwood is a beautifully curated boutique with so many unique pieces - I seriously wanted to buy EVERYTHING! I wound up nabbing some comfy gear to display my Astoria pride (including the above shirt), cute glassware and magnets, witty cards, and a light-up bar sign that will be on full display at the housewarming this weekend. Best of all, you don't need to be in the NYC area to get your own taste of Lockwood...check out their online offerings!

I'd like to give a shout-out to yet another awesome guy who is celebrating his birthday this week...my Dad! We already had an early celebration when I was in New Jersey, but I hope his big day tomorrow is extra special. Have a beautiful weekend!
