Weekending Pics and Snaps

Hey Gals! I thought it would be fun to join Biana and Meghan for a weekend recap since I'm not quite ready to put it behind me yet. It was so great to have a long weekend, and enjoy a little r&r with family and friends for the holiday weekend. So here is a glimpse into my weekend courtesy of some pics and snaps - I recently joined Snapchat and am still trying to figure it all out, but feel free to follow me (kleva21) and I'll gladly follow you back!

Thursday we kicked off the holiday at home with the parade and I attempted to create a cute themed breakfast... but it turned out to be a big #Pinterestfail!

Luckily they tasted delicious, and Little M still got a kick out of them!

This was the first year that Little M really understood that it was a holiday and he was loving the Macy's parade on tv - he kept singing and dancing to all of the performances. It doesn't get any better than experiencing a holiday through your child's eyes and has me so excited for Christmas this year!

In awe of the "Tommy Choo Choo" balloon
After the parade, we watched the dog show as we got ready for the day - watching the dog show is one of my Thanksgiving day traditions, and I always make sure to pay attention when Fred's breed, the Havanese, is up (sadly he didn't even place this year!).

Then we headed over to my parents house for dinner

While we waited for dinner to be ready, we enjoyed lots of wine and shameless snaps!
Obviously we kept our phones away during dinner, so there are no food photos to be had, but trust me that it was completely delicious and by the end of the night I practically had to be rolled home!

I'm usually not one to hit up the stores for Black Friday, but I had my eye on one particular item from Michaels, so I was up and out by 7:30 to snag me some crafting deals!

I was able to get the item I was coveting - the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine, along with many other fabulous crafting items. Finally, I had to cut myself off once my cart was filled to the brim!

Later in the day, we headed out to the get our Christmas tree, and after doing a couple laps, we definitely found our best tree to date!
The tree farm also had some goats that Little M made friends with
We headed home and after enjoying some of the delicious Thanksgiving leftovers my mom sent us home with, we got to work decorating the tree!

Little M was very excited to put the ornaments on the tree.. and then remove them from the tree!
But I'm really happy with how the tree turned out, and I can't get enough of how great my whole house smells from it!

On Saturday  we headed to Pennsylvania for the night to visit one of GG's high school friends. He and his wife recently bought a house, and had a bunch of us out to check it out and catch up.
Round trip tunes!
We had such a great night catching up with everyone that of course I was awful at taking pictures, though I was really proud of myself for staying up so late, so I did snap the below before heading to bed for the night!

Sunday was spent recovering relaxing, and we also finished up the holiday decorating downstairs.

All-in-all it was a fantastic holiday weekend, and now let's bring on Christmastime!

How was everyone else's Thanksgiving weekend? Anyone brave the Black Friday sales and get some good deals?

Five on Friday {November 27, 2015}

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones! Before I hop into my Black Friday online shopping spree, here's a quick look at the 5 things I'm loving this week.

Thanksgiving just had to take the #1 spot this week, especially because we got ridiculously lucky with the weather. It was a perfect, low 60s kind of day here in New Jersey so we were able to enjoy our appetizers outside by the fire pit.

It's just not an Italian Thanksgiving without a yummy bowl of my dad's famous pasta e fagioli soup! And of course, there was more than enough of all of the traditional dishes to go around.

How did you celebrate the holiday this year?

LA & T Thanksgiving

Earlier this week, T and I made our own mini-Thanksgiving feast at home. Not only was it a delicious excuse to have even more of our favorite holiday foods (you can pass the green bean casserole this way, please) but it was really nice to have some time to ourselves to focus on all the things we have to be thankful for this year. Plus, I finally got to try out the multi-colored leaf sugar cookies that I've had pinned for a few years!

RBL Sale Stash

While M and I were devastated to learn that our beloved Rescue Beauty Lounge was closing its doors forever, we both took full advantage of their big going out of business sale (well, I was semi-restrained with purchasing 6 polishes...M might have put just a few more bottles in her shopping cart!). We're already mourning the loss of this fantastic company, but at least we still have some new glittery, shiny polishes to help ease the pain!

Iron Bowl
Me at the beginning of the season, wondering..."What am I in for?"
This season has been my first one following college football, thanks to T's undying love of the Alabama Crimson Tide. I've had a blast learning more about the game and the team's key players, so I'm super excited for tomorrow's Iron Bowl to watch the big rivalry game against Auburn. We'll be cheering along during our game watch complete with houndstooth napkins, team logo Jell-o molds, and tons of game day snacks (hey, any excuse for a theme party!). I know many of you are also college football fans...who are you rooting for?

Even my parents are getting into the "Roll Tide!" spirit!

Thanksgiving Eve Round-up

Happy Thanksgiving Eve Gals! I’m can’t wait to indulge in all of my favorite fall foods tomorrow (with a healthy side of wine!) and spend the day with my family. I was lucky enough to take off from work on Friday, but for today, I’m stuck counting down the hours until it’s time to go home. So I thought it’d be fun to round up some of my favorite links from the week in case anyone else is stuck at work too and needs a fun distraction or two!

I'm not one for discussing politics, so SNL totally nailed it last week with this skit

This list of Christmas gifts from the 90's gave me all the nostalgia

I'm definitely guilty of feeding Miss Fred table scraps, so this was a good reminder to be careful on what I'm giving her.

One word - Piecaken

I'm totally intrigued by this concept - would you try out a mattress in a box?

And last - There are still a couple days left to enter the fabulous Nordstrom giveaway hosted by Pamela in honor of her 2 year blogiversary, so be sure to enter!

Hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving!!

Fall Favorites

I know that we technically still have another month of autumn but once we hit Black Friday, I'm going to be 100% all about Christmas, all the time, so I'm sneaking in just under the wire with this collection of my fall favorites (thanks to Emelia for tagging me to share!). There are oh-so-many things that I love about this beautiful season, so here are just a few of my top picks:

Favorite Autumn Candle
I went a bit cray-cray on the candles this fall because my old apartment had an insane ban against all candles written into my lease (ridiculous, right?!) so this was my first full season of candle freedom in years! I tried out plenty of different fabulous scents from Bath & Body Works but my top favorites are two of their best-selling classics...Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and Leaves! I started many weekend mornings these past few weeks with a cup of coffee, a good book, and a lovely fall candle :)

Favorite Sweet Treat

These Gingersnap Pumpkin Ice Cream Sandwiches will forever be insanely delicious! Since they are bite-size, it's totally fine to sneak an extra sandwich or two, I won't tell...

Favorite Soup

No matter how hot it gets, I am always eating soup for lunch year-round but of course I particularly enjoy it during the cooler months. This Italian White Bean, Pancetta, & Tortellini Soup is a big bowl of comfort, and packed with tons of great flavor.

Favorite Drink

Autumn is all about apples, and I love mixing them up into all kinds of cocktails. My Apple Cider Sangria is perfect for a large party and the best part is, the longer you let it marinate in the fridge, the more flavorful it will be!

Favorite Fall Snack

And speaking of apples...this Apple Brie Crostini is my latest obsession. I love the saltiness of the balsamic glaze paired with the sweetness of the cinnamon-sugar apples!

Favorite Thanksgiving Food
I'll let you in on a little secret...I skip the turkey every year so that I have more room to fill up on the yummy side dishes! While a classic green bean casserole will always have a place on my Thanksgiving table, my #1 holiday food has to be stuffing.

Favorite Autumn Activity

Autumn has so many great seasonal activities that I simply can't pick just one - from apple picking to visiting a pumpkin patch to just stomping around in leaf piles, I love them all!

Favorite Fall TV Show
My MVP of the new shows that started this fall has to be Scream Queens. Its over-the-top campiness is the perfect antidote to the any real world stresses, and since it's a satire on the horror genre, it makes it feel like Halloween all year!

Favorite Halloween Costume

This is an easy one...hands down, my favorite costume was my Toddlers & Tiaras Pageant Winner! I had so much fun creating my "beauty dress" and taking home the Ultimate Grand Supreme prize, haha!

Even though we're only a few days away from Thanksgiving (and the immediate start of the full-fledged Christmas season), I'd love to know...what are some of your autumn favorites? And while you're here, don't forget to enter our $325 Nordstrom gift card giveaway!

Guest Post: Nautical Thanksgiving Table

With Thanksgiving only a few days away, we are putting the final touches on our festive tablescapes. Last week, we brought you a guest post by Katie Benson of #TableSettingIsMyLife with some adorable ideas for your Thanksgiving kids table. Today, Katie used her home on the Sandy Hook Bay as inspiration for this Jersey Shore Thanksgiving tablescape.
While many people associate coastal design with summer, adding a few beach accessories to any fall centerpiece can set your table décor apart.
Even if your home is nowhere near the ocean, why not add a little seaside flair to your dinner table? After all, the first Thanksgiving was a coastal one.
Did you know there was no turkey served at the original Thanksgiving? In fact, it is widely believed by food historians that the pilgrims served shellfish, such as lobster, clams and mussels!
So this year, why not think outside the fall foliage box?
Using common beach accents alongside your traditional Thanksgiving décor gives your holiday a relaxed feel that will have your guests imagining the sand beneath their feet and the salt in the air!
