Five on Friday {February 5, 2016}

Happy 1st Friday of February! I know that we pretty much say this every month but January really flew by, didn't it? It's been a bit of a crazy winter in NYC since the city can't seem to make up her mind about the weather...one day it's a blizzard, and the next I'm walking around without a coat in 60 degree weather! No matter what Mother Nature has in store, I'm ready for the weekend after having a pretty awesome week - here are 5 highlights:

Early V Day treats!

I was lucky enough to receive some awesome early V Day surprises this week, such as these ombre chocolate-covered cherries and this lush floral arrangement. They definitely gave my afternoon an extra boost of happiness!

And just last night, I received a hand-addressed envelope in my snail mail from Emelia, who sent me the cutest little hamburger Valentine!

It's always a treat to get a personal piece of mail, and this card was simply adorable. Even if you're not a Valentine's Day fan, all of these little treats can also work for our favorite holiday of the year...GALentine's Day! M and I are compiling a list of our favorite GALentine's Day ideas so check back for that next week!

Snapchat

I (somewhat reluctantly) joined Snapchat earlier this week thanks to M's encouragement. I'm still totally baffled by it and have no clue what I'm doing but if you'd like to follow me, you can find me there at SequinNotebookB! Make sure you share your Snapchat names in the comments so I can find you too!

Favorite new recipe

I'm proud that I've been working on a longtime goal by slowly been spending more time in the kitchen and building my cooking confidence, due in no small part to my new Skinnytaste cookbook! Lots of the recipes have been winners but so far, these Skinny Chicken Enchiladas have probably been the #1 favorite in our house. T and I both loved them and I was even excited to pack up the leftovers for lunch the next day, haha! This will definitely be back on the menu again soon.

Vacation booked!

It's been making me a bit anxious that I didn't have any kind of vacation to look forward to on my calendar, so I was thrilled to finally book a mini trip earlier this week - I'll be heading back to Naples, Florida later this month for a long weekend getaway! Naples is one of my very favorite spots to chill out and relax, so I'm super excited to recharge with a few days of beach time, good food, warm weather, and of course...beach cocktails!

M's birthday party

Monday was M's birthday so we celebrated earlier this week with an amazing dinner where I got to spend some quality time with my other #1 gal, Little M! Doesn't he look so handsome? Of course, the chocolate souffle that M and I both had for dessert was looking pretty good that night, too.

Cheers to a fun weekend ahead!

Cheers to AprilAmandaJennieKarliRebecca, Katie, HeatherAndrea, and Tif for hosting today's link-ups!

  11. What a handsome boy!!! ;-) how wonderful for you to get flowers and chocolate covered cherries! You're a special girl and you deserve those things! ;-) I made chicken enchiladas this week, they weren't exactly skinny except I did use a third less fat sour cream and 2% cheese, LOL! I hope your weekend is as amazing as you are!!
